Beams = Breakthrough Engine with Advanced Mechanism System

es el sistema VVT-I con compresion a 11:1 vamos, que tiene mas compresion y timing variable en admision en los beams de tapa roja y en admision y escape en los beams de tapa negra, te pego algunas direcciones de interes en ingles y extractos de ellas.

IS200/Altezza come with either a 1GFE (157hp) Engine, or a 3SGE (190-210hp) Engine. The 3SGE was used in Camry between 1988 and 1997 in Japan and some US models between 1987 and 1991. 2JZGE is the non-turbo Supra Engine IS300 come with, with 215hp to start.

The **3S-GE engine with VVT-i **has a **compression ratio of 11.0:1 **and the 3S-GE without VVT-i has a compression ratio of 10.3:1, while the 3S-GTE engine has a compression ratio of 8.5:1

As for differences, Beams blacktop and redtop are completely different from the bottom up. I believe the blacktop had slightly more compression and was lightened a bit. The heads are completely different between the two. The Blacktop has VVT-i on both the intake and exhaust cams. The redtop only has it on the intake. They make their power on the top-end. They redline at 7500 or 7800 if I remember correctly and make their peak power at 7000 rpms. Max torque is around 6000 rpms… Don’t bother with this engine if you don’t like the way Hondas make their power.

In it’s final reiteration the 3SGE gained Dual VVTi head and remains in production for the Altezza. The 3SGTE never had the VVTi head, but internal upgrades and different turbos allowed it to produce 260 HP.

YAMAHA connection

The Yamaha connection needs to be mentioned: Yamaha developed the Toyota 2000GT and was a Toyota partner in the design of most Type G heads. Most engines/heads, including the 3SGE/3SGTE (now in it’s 4th generation), the Previa specific 2TZFE/Z (no relation to the old T engines), and the newest 2ZZGE engines were and are still designed and cast by Yamaha. Yamaha also assembles most of the Toyota G model engines.

That’s a BEAMS red-top (for obvious reasons) 3SGE. The 3SGE, like the other engines in the Celica, has gone through a variety of refinements. It started out producing around 110 HP in the late 1980s, went up to 160 HP with the 1990s, and in the later half of the 1990s breached 180 HP (red-top BEAMS) and 200 HP (black-top BEAMS).

en modifications/engine swaps deberia salir datos de ese motor, solo que no me abre el link, a ver si a ti si.

**Reading the Engine Codes
**
Toyota engine codes are typically formed in two sections, each separated by a dash. The first section, before the dash, represents the particular engine family, while the section after the dash represents the engines particular attributes and features.

Engine Family: The first number represents the revision of the particular engine block, where a larger number indicates a newer revision. The letter(s) following this number indicate a particular block family, bore, and stroke.

Engine Attributes and Features: Each letter represents an indicative feature of the engine.

G = Wide angle, twin cam head (“sporty version”)
F = Narrow angle, twin cam head (“economical” version)
T = Turbocharged
Z = Supercharged
E = Fuel Injection
U = Japan Emission package
C = California Emission package

y esta no te ayudara pero esta mu bien xD:
